Ministry Update, Mumblings

We Are Never Alone

“My husband and I have been laid off work since October. Just last week, he started back and hopefully it will now be full time again. On Friday, he came home and said the Lord told him to send $500 to KTSY. So, please find enclosed a check in that amount. This is a gift from God, to you, through us. May God bless you richly as you keep His word, through music, flowing into the hearts and minds of your listening audience. Thank you for being there and uplifting us in our temporary season of lack.”

Some days, opening the mail at KTSY can be a test of our faith, as the bills and demands pile up. And then, on days like today, we’re reminded we are never alone on this faith journey that is the KTSY Family. Thank you for standing with us, whether you’ve been able to contribute or not. Your prayers, kind letters and emails, attendance at KTSY activities, and sharing your time and resources with us, all testify to the Kingdom work we’re doing, together. To God be all of the glory and praise.

Diet Coke, A Camp Full of Kids & God’s Grace

camp

I’m still recovering, but a good time was had by all. I just returned from spending the week as camp pastor for Junior Camp at Camp Ida Haven in McCall. One hundred and eight ten and eleven year olds, full of energy and curiosity, eager to learn and eager to get wet.

Our theme for the week was God’s amazing grace. I tried to demonstrate that by dropping Mentos in Diet Coke to visualize God’s effect on our lives. I wadded up a fifty dollar bill, stomped it flat and threw it in the lake to demonstrate we have value because God said we do, just like the government says that piece of paper & recycled blue jeans has value. We talked about the love and care we should show for each other by accepting each other without judgment and condemnation. All the while trying to ignore the mosquitoes and waking up to temperatures in the thirties.

As I prepared my twelve different talks that week, I also realized how complicated we grown-ups can make the Gospel sometimes. So let me encourage you to take a moment today, and through the eyes of your inner ten year old, think about how much God loves you and what He’s prepared to do for you today.

Coming Home on Dash 8

Out the Window of a Prop Plane

I had occasion to travel last week and the privilege to be on a Horizon Dash 8, a fine turbo prop commuter plane built for travelers of lesser stature and girth than myself. I was even more blessed to be in row 8, looking out my window directly at the propeller.

As we pushed away from the gate on our way home, I saw the youngish gate workers slouched lethargically on the seats of the tram they used to push the plane away from the gate, obviously hot and tired in their coveralls from getting us ready for departure. As we headed away, my thought was “I hope they did their jobs well and didn’t forget something, since my life depends on it.”

Obviously, I made it home, but it made me think some about the things I take for granted every day and who’s depending on me to get those things right.  Who’s depending on you to get things done right? A scary thought indeed, sometimes.

Don’t forget, we’re on the King’s side and He promised to help us with those things, to guide our footsteps and guard our path. That includes those looking to us, if we’re looking to Him.

Looking to Him for KTSY, I’m General Manager Mike Agee.
