Ministry Update

Just One More Way

facebook.jpg

Technology is allowing us one more way to connect the KTSY Family. A couple of weeks ago, at the lukewarm urging of my sons, I checked out and started a Facebook page. Their urging was lukewarm, since anything the dad might think is cool and actually join them in is downgraded in coolness just a touch in their eyes.

In the space of just a few short weeks, I’ve discovered friends and classmates already in the network who I’ve enjoyed reconnecting with after many years apart.  I enjoyed looking at pictures of my friends and their families, even a couple of videos of me and a group of friends at the lake from my college days posted by an old friend.  Truly scary stuff.

Then I discovered pages and causes and KTSY’s presence on Facebook was born. If you are part of the Facebook social network, I would love to have you join the KTSY Family there.  Just one more way for us to connect and share our experience on this grand Kingdom walk we are on.

For KTSY, I’m updating my status and still General Manager Mike Agee.

Jack Jack & My Walk With God

Jack Jack Enjoying the View

My empty nest lasted just a few months. After the boys left for college, I was thinking maybe a little peace and quiet would be nice for a change. Alas.

I have a new dog at my house. His name is Jack Jack, in honor of the baby character in the movie The Incredibles, hoping there is a fireball living inside. Jack is a two year old English Setter who has lived his life on a six foot chain in a breeder’s backyard. He has only known neglect and slavery from his master. When my wife saw his picture on the internet site of a dog rescue group, she was unable to resist. We took Jack from a life of pain and neglect and brought him to live with us.

He’s been with us for about a month now. My youngest is like a dog whisperer and slept with Jack the first night on the futon in the basement. My wife and oldest followed right behind. Jack loves running in his new backyard, most of a fenced half acre in the country with lots of grass and a few shady trees. He has toys he doesn’t know what to do with, doggie treats and a queen size futon to sleep on.

But for me, Jack reserves growls and barks. He cowers and runs away when I come near. I touch him only under duress and when someone else is holding him. His previous master obviously didn’t treat him well and I’m enjoying the fruits of his labor now. Jack is afraid of me.

I actually thought to myself last week while we walked with my wife, I wish I could become a dog, so I could show him what it was supposed to be like, how much fun he could have being a dog who was loved and cared for, to revel in what he was created to be, a dog. And that I wanted to love him, if he would only let me.

Then it hit me. God feels the same way about us. We’ve only known suffering and pain from our master Sin. And when God comes near, we cower and run, barking and growling to be left alone. Because we don’t understand.

God became one of us, because He loves us and wants us to revel in what we were created for, to be human, created in His image, and to be in relationship with Him. God became man and we have been redeemed. Amazing.

Ministry Update

Ministry Update

It’s been a couple of months since I’ve talked about money, for good reason. Mainly, I don’t want you to think it’s all about the Benjamin’s at KSTY. While money is important to keep this ministry functioning, it is by far not the most important thing. It’s all about the stories, the changed lives; it should be all about the Kingdom work we do.

After a couple of months of budget trimming and rearranging and postponing and a very gratifying response from you our listeners, it would appear we’ve stabilized. So any discussion about money today, should include praise to God for providing for us when we most needed to hear from Him. And a big thanks to you.

In the midst of a tumultuous economic and political season in America, you have remained faithful in your support of KTSY. I thought it was appropriate you know that things are okay at KTSY for now. Thank you for your prayers and gracious support. Please pray that God continues to bless us and that He continues to use you to deliver that blessing. We wouldn’t have it any other way.
