A Renewed Perspective, Perhaps?

Christmas is behind and a brand new, clean slate-of-a-year looms ahead. How can it be 2008 already? Seems like just a few days ago it was 1999 and we were worrying about the Y2K bug and filling our garages with water and camp stove fuel.

Now it’s Iraq, unemployment, prices at the pump and sub-prime mortgages. Seems like I’ve read about this kind of stuff before.

Matthew records a promise from Jesus in the midst of the Sermon on the Mount. Apparently some in the audience were worried about some of the same things we’re worried about today. Imagine that. Not much has changed in 2000 years.

Jesus reminds us the Father knows we need all those things. “Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious for tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

Seems a good way to start a new year. Knowing in advance there will be trouble today and probably trouble tomorrow, but God still knows what I need. I have but to seek His kingdom and His righteousness. He’ll take care of the rest if I keep Him at the center of my life.

Kind of puts it all in perspective, doesn’t it?

A Lovely Drive

KTSY Float

“Merry Christmas! What a beautiful float! My parents listen to that station. Got any candy?”

I had the honor of driving the tow vehicle for the Treasure Valley Night Light parade in Caldwell. Mainly because I have trailer backing skills. I wasn’t prepared for how close everyone was, as we made our way through downtown. Ten thousand people lined the streets, just a few feet away.

And members of the KTSY Family were clearly visible. As I drove, people waved, said hello, made eye contact smiled, nodded and introduced me to their children. What a wonderfully warm experience it was to meet members of the Family, to know I belonged and was in the company of friends. To know there was a connection, even in the midst of a crowd of strangers. As the commercial would say, parade float $432. Seeing a friend in the crowd, priceless.

Thank you for welcoming us into your homes and lives. It’s an honor and privilege we treat with the utmost respect and care. Thank you for being part of the KTSY Family.
